Description

One of the more obscure Marvel/Mattel concepts was a big deal they had made with various anime studios for a comic/toy line dubbed 'Shogun Warriors', Composed of various 'Super Robot' anime heroes, (though only three in the titular comic, due to licences) they were a short-lived franchise (late 1970's, ended by 1980), with only 20 issues of the comic.

The only one of these assembled bots who appeared in the Marvel comics, was Raideen (aka: Raydeen in the comic) on the far left. He appeared alongside Combattler-V (Combatra in the comics) and Danguard Ace (Dangard Ace in the comics).

But the toys had a much bigger selection to choose from, with which everyone shown was apart of. Well... not 'Shin Getter Robo', but one of the earlier incarnations (Getter Robo G).

Funny thing of note, in the toy line, Godzilla was also apart of the team. But as you can see... some liberties were taken. ;p

Super Robots Shown: Raideen, Gaiking, Mazinger Z, Shin Getter Robo, and Voltes Five.

Got these sprites from one of the spin-off games of the 'Super Robot Wars' series that was apparently made for the original Playstation back in 1996. It was one of the few entries in the series to NOT employ the trademark/iconic Super Deformed/Chibi-styled robots.

Though apparently the company 'Toynami' may be trying to revive the toy line. They've started it out, it seems, with the animes that led to the creation of Voltron in the US.

Amazing work. It looks like it could have been an actual video game.

I'm just curious how many Giant Robot Anime Toei has. I know they also do Voltron, but I can't seem to find out how many of these kinds of shows they did. They've done like over 1000 anime so going through all of that is a pain. Not to mention all of their live action gains robots from their Sentai series.

I can imagine a 2D Fighting Game in this style with a bunch of these anime giant robots. "Shogun Warriors: Super Mech Battles".
