Description
The German answer to Captain America (his name means 'Captain Germany', more or less) in the Marvel Universe. Markus Ettlinger was apart of German Special Forces until special genetic treatments bestowed him with great powers. Now working as a state sanctioned operative, he fights crime in his home country as well as abroad (especially when he's going after war criminals from WW2).
A key ability of his is the power to absorb kinetic energy. While he usually utilizes this energy to personally increase his own strength, speed and endurance... he can (if push comes to shove and lives are in danger) redirect this energy at vital parts of an enemy... potenially killing them if he's not careful.
He once led a group of German super-powered operatives ("Schutz Heiliggruppe") that tried to bring the Red Skull (and his crew) in to face justice for his many crimes. Obviously didn't work out as hoped, but it DID gain him an invaluable ally in THE Captain America.
The other big story involving the Hauptmann dealt with an investigation into South America to uncover the true identity of the person who murdered fellow teammate 'Blitzkrieger' (aka: Generator) who had been in that region investigating the slaying of South American superheroes. It was later revealed that Zeitgeist, another member of his team, was the real killer. Ettlinger soon confronted his treacherous squadmate, and in the ensuing battle killed him with his energy redirection ability.
He's been seen off and on ever since, but is mostly obscure.
Note: Due to his codename having too many connections to various things usually associated with World War 2-era Germany, he was renamed Vormund. It's apparently one of the ways of saying 'Guardian', but in this context it means 'Legal Parental Guardian', so it's kinda weird. Like many such situations, with multiple aliases, this is entirely up to the writers to remember. So he's still occasionally called 'Hauptmann Deutschland' today.
Made using a sprite of the 'Bucky-era' Captain America created for mugen by Verz, Alienmorph and Magus. Hope it looks good.
